Tattoo Project

To create this project I had to draw an image that I would eventually scan into the computer to use as a tattoo. Drawing, while it is not my strong suit is rather simple so this is defiantly the easy aspect of this project. The most difficult part was cutting out the tattoo, prior to doing this project I didn't know that I could simply apply a filter to remove the white, so I went and cut out the white by hand going over it very precisely. It was by far the hardest thing in this project especially when it proved to be unnecessary my frustrations were high.
The mediums that were used  for this project were the move tool, the magic wand, the warp tool, filters, the layer mask and paint tool, the dodge and burn tool as well as the blur tool. The filter was used to remove the white in the tattoo. The move and warp tool was used to place the tattoo on my arm and make the tattoo appear to be more dimensional. The layer mask and paint tool was used to get rid of any of the tattoo background that remained. And lastly, the dodge and burn tool was used to make the tattoo darker or lighter, so it would blend seem like it was actually on the skin.
My strongest aspect of this project was arranging the tattoo placement on my back. I liked where I placed it which made it seem more real as it appears to be half hidden behind my shirt. I also liked the way I sized and warped the tattoo. It did not look fake or unidimensional, it was a good size and it looks real. My weakness in this project was the finishing touches such as utilization of the dodge and burn tool, I used too much dodge which made the tattoo look unconvincingly dark, as compared to a real tattoo. If I were to do this project again I would fix my use of dodge and burn.

"Album Cover"

In this album cover I think my strongest area was being able to use the lasso tool to cut out different parts of images to be able to morph them into one fluid picture. Also my use of blend modes came out nice and helped the image look more natural rather than copy and pastey. I can improve my work by learning more tools on Photoshop to be able to make a more interesting and three dimensional picture. Once I become more comfortable with a variety of tools I think I will be able to come back to this picture to add a variety of different tools to make a more balanced image.

Some aspects of this activity were easy. Being able to choose a verity of pictures off of google was easy because it required very little work or effort to search for a picture. It was also easy being able to drag in the pictures from other tabs within photoshop. However, some aspects of this activity were also difficult. In some photos, you couldn't just use the magnetic lasso because the pictures had weirdly shaped edges so in this case you had to go in individually so there wouldn't be white edges in the picture that you dragged into the final project.

Some tools that I used were the lasso tools, blend modes, colorize, and the move tool. I used them to be able to make one fluid image so it didn't look as though I just copied other pictures onto one. This demonstrated the objective by making one image that blended used others to represent my interests in an album cover format. If I were to do this again I would use pictures that I took, to make it more personalized.
